Typey-typey Linky-linky x-posted One of the DAs has realised that I type much faster than he does and has been giving me screeds of hand-written notes to type up. It's nice to have something useful to do (I haven't forgotten your editing Beau! I'll do more today), plus he buys me Cokes. :) Here are some things I think worth linking to and why. New Zealand swim-wear label Ginger Lover. I was first pointed to these beautiful vintage styled swimsuits by the now defunct Special Knives blog. I keep going back though, to look at them and drool. Their sheer pretty almost convinces me that buying togs online is not a bad idea. They have ruffle-backed bikini bottoms!!! Dr Horrible's Tea of Evil is a black tea blend. The company Adagio Teas also has a range of "Serenitea" inspired teas! The Kaylee looks especially num. I don't know if you can get in NZ though :( The Tor website is giving away free books in various digital formats. I think for this week only though. I may have downloaded many for later perusal. Mmm, bookses. The same page also has links to downloadable cover art. And now a special something for those who love things both crafty and geeky, Geek Central Station is an etsy seller who makes geeky, geeky amigurumi, aka incredibly cute crocheted toys. She specialises in LotR and Starwars ones, but has done many others. Check out her flickr for even more photos of the awesome. What, you thought you might get actual content... from *me*? Apparently I will do typing for Coke... or just to relieve the boredom, whatever.

Dr Horrible Today I am all about pimping Dr Horrible. Click, watch, enjoy. In case you need some more info, is a Joss Whedon online project thing. I really enjoyed it. | | Tuesday, July 15th, 2008 | | 9:32 am |
More on our weekend - posted as a comment in my other journal Homebody is fine. He has this awesome cast/ thumb guard thing. It was actually pretty funny. We were inside chilling and he was outside bouncing and Neid was watching him. She came in to see what we were up to and then he wandered in grinning and was all "Hey, is there a Dr in the house?" and showed us his really weird looking hand.
I thought he was having us on, as y'know, some people can do weird things with their fingers. He told me later he was grinning as he got to make a joke about Beau being in the house and also, Woah, my hand looks freaky! It didn't hurt.
Beau and I seriously had an awesome time. We caught the train to X+'s place in the country on Saturday evening, drank beer and then baileys, played cards and watched "Spaced" (really cool and funny uk tv series) until 3.30am on Sunday morning. Then we got up at about 10.30 to X+'s aunt making us a cooked breakfast! The others didn't show up until 2.30pm and the trampoline incident was about 6.30pm.
I think Homebody looks at the whole experience as fodder for his writing! | | Monday, July 14th, 2008 | | 4:55 pm |
A series of unfortunate events x-posted 1) While jumping up and down on a trampoline, Homebody dislocates his thumb. 2) On the way to the hospital, they encounter a huge traffic jam due to a horse fair on the next day. 3) On leaving the hospital, Neid, in the car, during the rain, through her hoodie, is stung by a wasp.
Basically, we had a great time in the country!
:)

Also, does anyone have either the time to make me an animated gif LJ icon (I have the pics for it) or an easy tutorial for me to do it myself. | | Friday, July 4th, 2008 | | 10:17 am |
My day at work, so far 10.16am I'm so hungry, I must eat my lunch now! I'll still be hungry at lunch-time though, so will have to buy a sandwich or something.
I knew I should have eaten breakfast!
It is the weekend for you guys already. I is Jealous.
pootle, poootle, pootle.
Work is incredibly quiet. I have been here for over an hour and the phone has rung *once*. Everyone else wandered in late and I bet they leave early too. Unfair!
I have many packets of biscuits inthe drawer next to me and they are calling my name! No! You seductive sirens, I shall not succumb to your wiles.
10.20am Second phonecall of the day!
Ok, I've eaten *one* of my sandwiches, that should last me until my morning tea break. I'll get a cup of tea and a biscuit then. Just *one*... maybe two. I stopped having sugar in my tea though! That surely counts for something.

Meh Not feeling bothered today.
It might be the horrible rain drizzling down my window, it might be the fact that I've blogged a whole bunch recently and not gotten the feedback I adore, it might be that what I *really* want to do is check facebook and email and reply to comments people have made about the silly photos I posted last night.
Who knows?
Oh! I have letter to write and novels to read :)
Swing dancing tonight too!

Brown Eww, our tap water has a definite brown tinge and has since yesterday evening. I *really* want to have a shower and wash my hair, but I won't feel clean after washing in brown.
I am also thirsty.
Woes! | | Friday, May 9th, 2008 | | 4:08 pm |
Annoying annoying annoyed So, I was most of the way through what had developed into a long and detailed post on the extracurricular activities I've been up to (I'd done Singing and Dancing and was about to move onto the play I watched yesterday) when my darling Hubby called. Apparently he has been asked to work *in Cork* all next week. OMGWTFBBQ!!! That is sooo awesome.... except, he is supposed to work in Galway until 10pm on Sunday and then start in Cork at 9am Monday.
I left the blog to begin researching ways to get him back to Cork in time for work, plane, train and airplane were swiftly ruled out. That left me hiring a car to drive him back in time. I called him to tell him about that and he was all, I'll see if I can leave Galway earlier.
Then my boss came in early (like 20min) to give me my break so that she could leave work at 4. So I left the computer as is and hopped off to break. Except she logged me off. And my post was not auto-saved. And I want to be angry and SOMEONE!!!!!!! (note the rage induced exclamation marks)
Anyhoo, Beau just called to say that he can get off work early and just catch the bus. Making all the time I researched instead of finishing and saving my blog post, wasted!!!
On the plus side, I no longer have to drive back from Galway at some ungodly hour of the night on Sunday. Yes! | | Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 | | 2:21 pm |
Help? 'Cause I know someone who reads will know and I'm hopeful will tell me,
Flikr vs Photobucket?
I've started taking pics of my food and want somewhere easy to keep them, link to.
Don't worry, will not be spamming up your flists with pages and pages of average looking photos! I'll post them on other blog and just linky it from here.
Advice and thoughts please?

hee hee Quote from the online book Darkside: "They don't make vampires like they used to," I said, surprised at how easily he'd gone down.

Not much happening x-posted Yeah, apparently Friday is phones are quiet day. Dinner last night was fab. Was great introducing people to the joys of "squeaky cheese" :) I am already planning for next week's dinner. Beau made hot chocolates again. We *really* need little tea cups to serve them in though. Maybe I'll have time next weekend to go hunting for some. Shops are not open when I get back into town from work and I work next to a Uni in the burbs (so close to cheap cafe food) but no close shopping shops. Today is rainy, so I was extra speedy walking getting to the bus stop and was a little bit early to work. It will mean that the bus will be packed and traffic slow going back though. Bleurgh. Today I have continued reading Darkside which is fun, but not super-awesome. I also followed a path of links starting with the LJ main page and have been exploring Lunch in a Box. This is an *awesome* food blog all about making packed lunch boxes/bento. It has heaps of really useful tips on making it *quick* and *easy* as well as recipes for all sorts of foods, with instructions and pictures. I'm reading and absorbing lots. I don't think I'll be packing lunches for a while (i'm enjoying the walk to the uni) but I'm loving the blog. My fav thing so far is squishing boiled eggs into shapes. So strange and cute! Wednesday waffle Hmm, I meant waffle as in nonsense talk, but now I want a waffle as in a shaped pancake type thing, with syrup and cream or possibly bacon and banana. I haven't had lunch today yet. Today is Shakespeare's birthday and sartorias aka Sherwood Smith did a post linking to a bunch of stuff to read and look at online to celebrate creativity in the spirit of shakespeare, or something. One of the things she's linked to is a novel that I have just begun reading and I had to stop and quote something that tickled my fancy (and my fancy does so enjoy being tickled): " Now, what I was thinking was, Holy fuck, a troll! but what I said was, "Sure." I'm Canadian. We're polite, eh. " Hehe, canadian. Ahh. Here's a link for those of you who have the time and the inclination. http://www3.sympatico.ca/sks_perry/Darkside1.htmlPoint of Fashion: Swing baby Current Obsession: Novelicious commenty? | | Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008 | | 12:04 pm |
Vocab lesson x-posted Here are some of the new words that I have learned in my time in Ireland. Excuse the spelling. 1) Langer This is a very corkian insult. Can be used in place of idiot, dick, git, bastard etc "He's such a langer!" 2) Dotey This means cute or sweet. "That shirt is so dotey" 3) Blow-in This refers to someone who is not a local, ie someone who has just "blown in" from out of town. "My parents have lived here for 30 years and they are still blow-ins" Beau and I are Super Blow-ins ;) Point of Fashion: Work-like Current Obsession: Winter Bells game |
